In 2002, an exhaustive research study identified South Rosedale as a clearly defined area in the city with significant heritage resources, both in its buildings and in its cultural landscape of boulevards and open spaces. As a result, South Rosedale was designated as a heritage conservation district under Part V of the Ontario Heritage Act to aid the city and the residents of South Rosedale in strengthening and protecting the neighbourhood’s unique character.
As part of the study, a computer database was prepared with archival information for each property including an estimated or established date of construction, architect, pattern of ownership and other information as available. A digitized photograph of each property, circa 2010, accompanies this database.
